We are working really really hard at finishing up our school year's worth of work this week. I did decide to assign some books for the summer and not just all be free reading.
1. Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford
2. Cricket in Times Square by George Selden (We are doing a book study on this book.)
3. Rascal by Sterling North
4. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
5. A book by Gary Paulsen. We have many in our house and the library has some too.
Mom's reading list is:
1. Cricket in Times Square since I'm leading the book study.
2. Exodus by Leon Uris
3. Mary Slessor of Calabar by W.P. Livingstone. We read a biography about her for school this year and I wanted to read some more about her.
4. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
5. The Scarlet Thread by Francine Rivers
If I make it through all of those, I want to read a book on the Monument's Men.

Three months later...
My boys were successful in reading their reading list. My younger son did not make it through Incredible Journey before school started, but finished the rest and read lots of other books too.
Mom did OK too. I did not finish Mary Slessor and didn't pick up Exodus at all. I still want to read Exodus, but I'm not really sure that I will finish the Mary Slessor book that we have. I'm not enjoying the writing.
Now onto school reading!
